# Case notes & memory

### Notes (Case → **Notes**)

A free-form editor for your working notes, strategy, and reminders. Placeholder: "Notes,
strategy, reminders — anything you want the assistant to always keep in mind for this case…" It
**auto-saves** as you type (a "Saving…" → "Saved" indicator appears). Your notes are always
available to the assistant as standing context for that case.

### Case memory / knowledge

As you work, the assistant can propose saving important facts to the case's **memory** (via an
approval card — see [Section 11](https://albatross.legal/docs/the-ai-assistant-case-chat)). Approved facts become a
durable dossier the assistant considers on future turns. Additionally, findings are extracted
from case files into the case's knowledge; deleting a file offers to also remove its findings
(the **"Also remove from Case Knowledge"** checkbox in the delete dialog).
