# Notifications

Notifications are **email-based**, controlled at two levels.

### Personal preferences (Settings → Notifications)

- **Email notifications** master toggle.
- **Delivery**: **Immediate**, **Daily digest**, or **Weekly digest**.
- **Notify self on items I own** (off by default) — get notified about your own actions.
- **Per-event toggles**, grouped by category (Cases, Documents, Files, Calendar, Members &
  access, Settings, Billing, System). Each can be **On**, **Off**, or **follow the firm default**
  ("Following firm default").

### Firm rules (Firm settings → Notifications, admin only)

Admins decide **who** gets notified for each event by adding recipient chips: **Everyone**, a
**role**, or a specific **member**. **"Apply recommended"** sets sensible defaults (notify
everyone for deadlines, new cases, and case changes). Individuals can still override any event in
their personal settings.
