# Troubleshooting & FAQ

**"My new case / file / chat disappeared after reload."** Data syncs from the server and can take
a moment on a cold load; a blank list during loading doesn't mean it's empty. If it persists,
reload once more. Work is stored server-side and shouldn't be lost.

**"The assistant says it can't search my file."** The file is still **indexing** or is **not
searchable**. Check the file's status in Case files; hover a "Not searchable" label for the
reason. Scanned PDFs with no text layer can't be searched.

**"A file won't index / says 'No searchable content found.'"** The file has no extractable text
(often an image-only scan). The document itself is still stored and viewable; it just can't be
searched.

**"I can't get into my workspace — everything's locked."** The firm likely has no active
subscription. An owner/admin should check the Plan/Subscription section and reactivate a plan.

**"The assistant won't respond and shows a subscribe card."** Same cause — the firm needs an
active plan.

**"I was invited but the link says it's invalid/expired/used."** Ask the firm to send a fresh
invitation. Also make sure you're signed in with the exact email the invitation was sent to.

**"I can't find a firm to join."** Firm names aren't searchable by design; type the **exact**
name, or ask a teammate to invite you.

**"I don't see the admin buttons / some settings are blank."** Those sections are admin/owner
only (and stay blank briefly while your role loads). If you should have access, ask an owner to
check your role in **Roles & access**.

**"Dictation button is missing."** The browser doesn't support voice input; try a current
Chrome/Edge/Safari.

**"My document formatting shows an amber dot."** That setting is outside the court rule for the
case's jurisdiction. Hover the dot for the specific rule; click it to reset to the compliant
default. You can still save as-is if you intend to.

**"How do I get a case out of the way without deleting it?"** Archive it (case row **⋯** →
Archive). Deletion is permanent and removes all case content; archiving is reversible.

**"Where did my cases go in the sidebar?"** There's no full case list in the sidebar by design.
Use the **case switcher** (search) to jump to a case, or the **`/cases`** page to browse them all.
