Albatross started with two observations that didn't sit well together.

Defense attorneys are drowning.
A public defender can carry hundreds of active cases at once — each with police reports, discovery dumps, and hours of bodycam footage nobody has time to watch. The hours don't exist. The stakes don't shrink.
2.
The AI arriving to help couldn't be trusted.
Lawyers were being sanctioned for filing briefs full of cases that never existed. The technology could clearly ease the workload — it just couldn't be believed.
So Albatross was built under one constraint: never say anything you can't show.
