Open a case → Case files.
Uploading
Three ways:
- Drag & drop files or whole folders onto the file panel. A blue dashed "Drop files to upload" target appears. Dropping onto a folder uploads into that folder; dropping elsewhere uploads to the case root.
- "Upload" button → "Upload files" (multi-file picker) or "Upload folder" (keeps the folder structure).
Supported types include PDF, Word (.docx/.doc), Excel (.xlsx/.xls), images (JPEG/PNG/GIF/ WebP), and video (MP4/MOV/WebM/MPEG). Audio and plain-text/Markdown files are recognized and shown with icons.
Upload progress shows up as rows right in the file list — each in-flight file shows a percentage, and folders on the path to an upload auto-expand and show aggregate progress. When an upload finishes, its placeholder becomes the real file row. Failed uploads are flagged so the user can retry.
Browsing files
Two view modes (toggle top-right):
- List view (default) — a hierarchical tree with Name / Size / Modified columns. Expand/collapse folders with the chevron; folders show a child count.
- Grid view — thumbnail tiles with breadcrumb navigation.
Search ("Search case files") flattens the tree to matching files by name while keeping the folder context. Clear the search to return to the tree.
Organizing files
- New folder — from a folder's ⋯ menu (or the toolbar). Names default to "New folder" if left blank.
- Rename — ⋯ → "Rename".
- Move — drag a file/folder onto a target folder (it highlights), or drag to the root; a folder's ⋯ also offers "Move to root".
- Delete — ⋯ → "Delete", with a confirmation. For a file, an optional checkbox "Also remove from Case Knowledge" additionally strips that file's extracted findings from the case's AI knowledge; unchecked, the findings remain even after the file is gone. For a folder, delete removes the folder and everything inside it. Deletes can't be undone.
Viewing / previewing a file
Click a file (or ⋯ → "Open") to open a resizable preview pane on the right. Behavior by type:
| Type | Viewer |
|---|---|
| Built-in viewer with zoom, fit-to-width, fullscreen, page-by-page rendering | |
| Images | Inline, fit to the pane |
| Video | Player with play/pause, ±10s skip, scrubber, volume, fullscreen |
| Word (.docx) | Formatted preview; an "Open in editor" button converts it into an editable case document |
| Excel (.xlsx) | Sheets rendered as tables |
| Text / Markdown | Monospace text |
| Anything else | "This file type cannot be previewed" + a Download button |
The preview pane can be resized (drag the left edge) or maximized to fullscreen, and its width is remembered. Download is available from the row's ⋯ menu and from the preview.
